What RemainsAfter 272 Books
A personal book project about reading, choosing and applying: what we take from books on personal development, business, mindset and spirituality, and what remains when we return to everyday life. Its starting point is Shachar’s own estimate: about 272 books over roughly four years.

What the book aims to offer
A grounded, personal way to choose what to take from reading—and to distinguish an appealing idea, a real attempt and a conclusion that remains open.
The aim is to build the book around real questions, decisions and attempts, drawing on saved summaries, conclusions and journal entries. Authors’ ideas will be credited; personal experiences will be included only when supported by a source and reviewed by Shachar. Ideas that were not adopted, did not work or changed over time can belong in the story too.
READ / CHOOSE / TRY / REFLECT
More than a list of books.A way to ask what remains.
An initial editorial map for organizing the material: from reading, through choice and an attempt, to reflection. An idea saved in notes was not necessarily tried in life.
- Read
What caught my attention?
Keep the idea and its source distinct from a personal interpretation.
- Choose
What is relevant to my life?
Consider what fits, what does not, and which question stays open. Not every idea needs to become a habit.
- Try
What was actually tried?
An application story needs an action and evidence, not just an intention. Personal stories are still being gathered and checked.
- Reflect
What stayed, and what changed?
Keep the conclusion within the limits of the experience, then offer a question the reader can explore.

01Start with what is
It is easy to fall in love with an outcome that has not happened yet. A new idea already looks like a working business, a lasting habit or a finished project. Imagination gives us energy. The question is how to connect it to what is happening now.

Requests arrive by email, an important detail stays in a conversation, and someone copies everything into a spreadsheet. Before connecting another tool, find out where the work actually gets stuck. This guide offers a way to map a recurring task, choose a specific improvement, and plan for the day the connection fails.

“Move the project forward” can stay on a to-do list for weeks. A more useful starting point may be one question, a manageable test, and a decision its result could change. Here is a way to turn a broad direction into a small work experiment without mistaking an early test for proof of success.
